A superb quality miniature 18th Century oak kneel-desk. I guess Apprentice made, it is of perfect proportion with a top drawer, three drawers either side and a cupboard. Below the long top drawer is a ‘secret’ slide drawer as found in full size examples and a wonderful feature to have on a miniature. The top drawer has a lock as does the cupboard. There is a key but this is just used to open the cupboard with……

All the handles appear original if scratch made for the size and the two matching escutcheons also miniature originals.

The top, sides and back are all oak and one piece. All the drawer linings are also oak, all untouched, dry and original.

A wonderful quality feature is all the drawers are dovetailed. The fronts correct lapped dovetail with the rear linings through dovetails. Tiny but a superb feature. The front is all correctly D moulded to surround each of the drawers. It sits on all original and untouched, shaped bracket feet all blocked correctly on the inside.

It is a lovely colour in the flesh throughout and retains the original finish now with a patina.

All in all the best miniature kneehole desk I have ever seen in the best original condition possible. Dating to Circa 1740-60 20cm’s wide x 21 cm’s tall x 13 cm’s deep.
