Beautiful Coquilla nut snuff box with incredible intricate carving. The front having an Eagle central to two rampant Lions. The rear having two kissing doves in a shield shape. The whole box smothered in carving depicting leaves and fruit of bountiful times. A very rare snuff box of quality. Most likely a love token from a Sailor. In exceptional condition except for the usual shrinkage and movement common in these nuts. Original hinge which opens and closes perfectly. Circa 1790
