Rare and Exquisite Sailor carved Coconut and Gilt Metal Locket. Double sided, one side with an American Bald Eagle. The Locket opens with an edge that fits within a rim and so totally sealing it leading us to believe it as used for Snuff or perhaps Opium. It also has a Gilded interior. Beautiful Filigree work to the edge. Probably Anglo American 19th Century Love Token, sailor carved, port merchant made. Circa 1840-50
