Incredible untouched Thames Valley chair after John Pitt or Richard Hewitt. Solid Yew Tree throughout with a one piece Elm seat. All Ears and feet original and untouched. Burr splat. Superbly shaped back cresting rail. Beautiful turned H stretcher. Incredible colour and Patina. Private collection since the 90’s. Sold at Bonhams in ‘92 for £6950, private collection ever since!! A very rare chair indeed. They don’t come any better than this one. A better example than the one used on the cover of Bernard D Cottons book ‘ The English Regional Chair’. Best of the best!! Circa 1780
