Simply the best..........not a nail out of place.....

Incredible William and Mary Table Cabinet. More likely used for a Ladies valuables rather than as a spice cupboard. In photographing this myself I have only just realised it has mirror matched Burr Pollard oak veneers to the door laid on pine in an ash frame. There has been a little movement as one would expect with an unstable burr veneer laid on pine, but it is now all stable. The door is cross banded in a Fruit wood, possibly Apple. Internally it has all of it’s 8 drawers of varying sizes, all untouched with their original lost wax cast brass button pulls. I believe the drawer fronts to be ‘Orchard’ walnut. A very particularly slow growing tree that gives the dark striking grain. The drawer partitions are ash, faced with D moulded Fruit wood. The door is hung on it’s original iron strap hinges. It has it’s original lock and I am in the process of trying to find a key that works. Standing on it’s original and untouched squashed onion walnut feet. The back is oak and untouched from the day it was nailed on. The top and base board are ash, as are the sides. There is evidence of a little historic worm in the Ash but I have retreated to be sure. The whole cabinet is in outstanding original condition considering it’s 300 years old. It is also the most beautiful mellow colour and patination. Please take the time to look carefully at the photographs. These pieces of furniture in this condition are very rare! 37 cm’s wide x 40 cm’s tall Circa 1685
