”Augsburg Table Cabinet"
A stunning C17th Augsburg cabinet in walnut veneer with chequered marquetry inlay to the top sides and internal external edges. The front of the drawers inlaid with engraved and gilded hand chased plaques with floral and scrolled decoration, the central door with a roundel. All the drawer fronts and central cupboard have ebonised dentil moulding surrounded by banded inlay. The drawer handles with cast brass and gilded grotesque, horned Devil masks. All the drawers retained their original pine linings. The back and underside retain an original “marbled” paper. The drop-leaf is decorated with a grotesque Devil inlaid marquetry mask, and retains it’s original hinges. The internal door and front flap also have wonderful original locks with key. In short a very original Rare Diminutive table cabinet in fine original condition from a collection in the Netherlands.
