Absolutely stunning untouched, early C18th Hourglass in Orchard Walnut standing almost 21 cm’s tall and 14.5 cm’s in diameter. Unusually having just the three very chunky turnings leading into superbly moulded ends. The very boldly hand blown glass bulbs with wonderful heat Striations to the glass are filled with a fine sand and the centre sealed with a wax and string ball. Because the two ‘bulbs’ are larger than usual, when it was made, the inside of the turning have had to be adjusted to accommodate this circumference. This beautiful piece looks and feels very English with a late William and Mary/Queen Anne look. I would put the date around Circa 1710 at the latest but could easily be earlier. Untouched and an incredible colour throughout this is an exceptional example of a highly collectable Hourglass.
