18th Century Fruitwood Hare Coursing Pipe Tamper in superb original condition. The underside of the plinth the Hare sits on has unusual nulled decoration. The Fruitwood I believe is Plum, an extremely hard timber, which has taken on a wonderful ‘used’ patina. The whole piece in superb original condition. A collector’s item of Treen with the subject illustrated in Pinto’s book Treen and other wooden bygones. Circa 1760-80
