Superb Rare, early 17th Century snuff/Tobacco Box in oak. Most likely French or Flemish. The lid has a naive carving of a Lady picking flowers, the body with again naive strap like carving. The inside of the lid retains a foil like paper. The whole box is untouched and has a wonderful rich patina. A truly rare survivor. Snuff and Tobacco was used by Women as much as men from the 17th century right through to the 19th century. Circa 1630-40
