19th Century ‘Japanese’ Aubergine Tea Caddy of exceptional colour and patination. In remarkable original and untouched condition retaining most of it’s deep reddy Purple Aubergine colouring. The shaped top with the ‘leaves’ unscrews to reveal a delicate circular lift off lid. Possibly turned from boxwood. Slightly smaller than the usual English and Continental Caddies but makes up for it in presence……..Circa 1860-80
